Trapt

Trapt are a four-piece post-grunge/alternative metal band originating from Los Gatos, California in the United States.

Trapt formed in 1997 with Chris Brown on vocals, Simon Ormandy playing guitar, Peter Charell on bass, and David Stege playing the drums. Shortly after, they recorded two albums (Amalgamation and Glimpse) to sell when they played at local venues. The band received a great response, and a buzz started to grow.

The band proceeded to sign with Warner Bros. Records and started recording their debut album, with the help of Robin Diaz replacing Stege on the drums (Diaz was eventually replaced by their current drummer, Aaron Montgomery). On November 22, 2002 the band released the self-titled Trapt which produced a total of three singles. "Headstrong" was the first, and it reached #1 on both the US Modern Rock and Us Mainstream Rock charts, as well as #16 on the US Hot 100, marking their most successful single to date, and becoming the theme song for WWE Bad Blood during June 2003. The second single from the album, "Still Frame", also managed to achieve #1 spot on the US Mainstream Rock chart, but failed to do as well on the other two charts. The third single, "Echo" (whose video had an appearance from Michelle Trachtenberg) did best on the US Modern Rock chart, achieving #10. The Trapt album was certified as platinum status by the RIAA.

The next release by the band after their debut album was a three-track EP (released March 30, 2004) that included live versions of the "Made Of Glass" and "Echo" tracks, as well as a previously unheard track called "Promise".

Their second full length album was called "Someone In Control", released September 13, 2005. It produced three singles for the band, "Stand Up", "Waiting" , "Disconnected (Out Of Touch)". While the singles didn't do as well as the ones released from the first album, "Stand Up" still reached # 3 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. (Note: iTunes has an item listed as "Lost Realist-Single")

In early 2006, Trapt toured the US with Nickelback.

At the moment, Trapt is in Vancouver, Canada recording their third album.

New single "Stay Alive" now on their MySpace page and a live album due out September 18, 2007. The new album will be entitled Trapt LIVE!. The album will feature two new studio songs ("Stay Alive" and "Everything to Lose") as well as live versions of nine songs from their earlier records.Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with no Invariant Sections, with no Front-Cover Texts, and with no Back-Cover Texts.
